Goal 2

Ensure sufficient learning opportunities and enhance resources to support students' progress through academics, workforce development and student services. Improve key indicators of student success, including retention, graduation, transfer and placement rates. Enhance curricula to ensure they are designed for students to acquire and demonstrate essential competencies.  

Subgoal 1: Adopt best practices for developmental education

  • Objective 1 - Decrease the number of students placed into developmental education courses by five percent.
    Timeline: June 2017
  • Objective 2 - Revise sequence of courses to decrease time in developmental education and increase options for students placed into developmental education to accelerate transition to college-level courses.
    Timeline: December 2016
Subgoal 2: Ensure College services are appropriately aligned to allow students to achieve their academic goals.
  • Objective 1 - Conduct process-mapping events in February 2016 to improve student services. Implement top three identified enhancements.
    Timeline: December 2016
  • Objective 2 - Create a relational student-advising model to increase student satisfaction with availability and accuracy of advising by two percent as measured in the student satisfaction survey.
    Timeline: December 2017
  • Objective 3 - Implement a communications and processing center to increase outbound communications to students by 10 percent.
    Timeline: June 2017
  • Objective 4 - Implement technology solutions to increase applicant-to-student conversion by two percent compared to fall 2015.
    Timeline: December 2017
  • Objective 5 - Increase student engagement with orientation by one percent, as measured by the Survey of Entering Student Engagement (SENSE).
    Timeline: December 2018
Subgoal 3: Implement innovative strategies to positively impact enrollment, retention, graduation, transfer and placement rates.
  • Objective 1 - Create a comprehensive strategic-enrollment-management and student success-plan.
    Timeline: June 2016
  • Objective 2 - Create recruitment and marketing plans to ensure enrollment trends are better than Pennsylvania community colleges' average.
    Timeline: December 2016
  • Objective 3 -  Increase student satisfaction with course availability by one percent on the Community College Survey of Student Engagement (CCSSE)

  • Objective 4 - Increase fall-to-fall retention by one percent by implementing large-scale strategies to improve student success.
    Timeline: December 2017
  • Objective 5 - Recruit and retain high-performing students and increase enrollment in the Honors Program by two percent.
    Timeline: June 2017
  • Objective 6 - Strengthen partnerships with high schools to increase college-readiness and dual-enrollment rates by five percent.
