Meet Alexandra: Explorer of Medical Career

“Everyone is so nice and helpful. The schedule works for me and the teachers are great!”

Alexandra Nuñez wasn’t sure what she wanted to study when she was considering college. HACC’s Gettysburg Campus was a good fit for her because it was inexpensive and close to home. She says she “wasn’t ready to leave the house,” so HACC gave her the opportunity to take college classes while still living at home.

Alexandra is studying in the Medical Assistant Program at HACC’s Gettysburg Campus. HACC opened her eyes to this career path, and she especially enjoys the clinical aspect of her studies and working with other students in the labs.

She says she would not have known about this possible career path if it had not been for HACC. She especially enjoys the clinical aspect of her studies and working with other students in the labs.

She credits the advisors at HACC, who she says “help a lot.” Alexandra points out that they not only provide information but also direct students to the services they need. She especially appreciates the help she has received with financial aid and says receiving a scholarship really felt good.

When asked if there was anyone in particular she found inspiring, Alexandra immediately mentions Josiah Long, admissions counselor at the Gettysburg Campus. She says she met Josiah in high school when he taught an after-school program in which she participated. She says he was extremely helpful in making her feel comfortable at HACC.

Alexandra plans to continue her studies beyond the Medical Assistant Program. In fact, she intends to go back to school at HACC for nursing! She is grateful for the opportunities she has received, and she would recommend HACC to anyone. “Everyone is so nice and helpful. The schedule works for me and the teachers are great!”
