The HACC Foundation offers scholarships to students enrolling in noncredit courses. Please learn more about the noncredit scholarship application.

 

How do I apply for a noncredit scholarship?

Please read and complete the application below. Please complete a new application for each course. You must apply before the first day of your course. You must be admitted to HACC and have a HACC ID. 

If you have not been assigned a HACC ID, please call 717-780-2510 for assistance.

 

Will a scholarship cover the entire cost of my course?

A scholarship may not cover the entire cost of your course. Please prepare alternative funding options for your selected course.

Scholarships are not awarded if the course fee is fully covered by a third-party (for example, employer, business, community or government agency). 

We do not offer multiple scholarships for one course. 

Scholarships are not offered for course fees under $100.

 

How will I be contacted? 

Communication will be made via the email you provide. Therefore, please check your email often.

 

Scholarship Eligibility Criteria

  • Students must be enrolled in the Adult Education Pathways Program at HACC and must complete an essay of 250 words explaining why he/she is in need of this award.
  • Students must be enrolled in Emergency Medical Technician program or the Advanced Emergency Medical Technician program.
  • Students must submit an essay, no longer 500 words, on why they want to pursue becoming an EMT.
  • Students must be enrolled in a program of study offered at the Senator John J. Shumaker Public Safety Center.
  • Students must be from Dauphin, Cumberland, Perry or York counties.
  • Preference will be given to students in active military service, including National Guard service.
  • Preference will be given to volunteer fire fighters.
  • Students must reside in the Emergency Health Services Federation service area (Adams, Cumberland, Dauphin, Franklin, Lancaster, Lebanon, Perry and York counties.)
  • Students must be enrolled in HACC’s EMT Program.
  • Preferences will be given to students with unmet financial need.
  • Students must have a minimum cumulative high school or HACC GPA of 2.0.
  • Students must be enrolled in HACC’s Lebanon Campus ELL/ ESL workforce course.
  • Preference is given to students with unmet financial need. 
  • Students must attend the Gettysburg Campus.
  • Students must be enrolled in Physician Office Assistant Program prior to funds being disbursed to student account.
  • Preference will go to WellSpan Health employees or family members of WellSpan Health employees.
  • Students must be residents of Central Pennsylvania.
  • Students must demonstrate unmet financial need as demonstrated by the FAFSA.
  • Students must be enrolled in HACC's Police Academy or the Police Academy Pre service Program.

Students must reside in Dauphin County or be employed for a Dauphin County Emergency Medical Service (EMS) agency.

  • Students must be enrolled in in the EMS Academy, the Emergency Medical Technician program, the EMT Advanced program or Paramedic program.
  • Preference will be given for EMS Academy students.
  • Students must be enrolled in a program of study offered at the Senator John J. Shumaker Public Safety Center related to Criminal Justice, Fire Science, Paramedic and Emergency Services Management.
  • Students must demonstrate unmet financial need as demonstrated by the FAFSA.
  • Students must be enrolled in HACC's Police Science Program.
  • Students must be enrolled in a noncredit program offered at HACC’s Midtown Center and, minimally, take program-specific courses at Midtown Center.
  • Students must attend the Harrisburg Campus.
  • Students must be enrolled full or part-time.
  • Students must be enrolled in HACC’s Police Academy.
  • Students must be pre-service cadets.
  • Preference will be given to students who demonstrate financial need.
  • Students must attend the Gettysburg, Lancaster, Lebanon or York Campus.
  • Students must be enrolled in the Physician Office Assistance Program.
  • Students must have unmet need with a household income at or below $29,700 for a single person or $40,050 for a two-person household.
  • Students must demonstrate unmet financial need as demonstrated by the FAFSA.
  • Students must be enrolled in HACC's Police Academy or Police Academy Pre-service Program.
  • Students must have applied and been accepted for ACT 120 training.
  • Students must be affiliated with the U.S. military (U.S. veteran, active duty, reservist or National Guard).
  • Students must be honorably discharged or a currently serving member in good standing with their units.
  • Students must be enrolled in HACC’s Advanced EMT Training.
  • Preference will be given to U.S. military students with unmet financial need, students who are without G.I. Bill benefits and/or students whose G.I. Bill benefits do not meet their necessary college expenses.
  • Students must be affiliated with the U.S. military student (U.S. veteran, active duty, reservist or National Guard).
  • Students must be honorably discharged or a currently serving member in good standing with their units.
  • Students must be enrolled in HACC’s Commercial Driver’s License Program.
  • Preference will be given to U.S. military students with unmet financial need, students who are without G.I. Bill benefits and/or students whose G.I. Bill benefits do not meet their necessary college expenses.
  • Students must be affiliated with the U.S. military (U.S. veteran, active duty, reservist or National Guard).
  • Students must be honorably discharged or a currently serving member in good standing with their units.
  • Students must be enrolled in HACC’s Computer/ IT Training or STEP Corporate Training.
  • Students must not be eligible for tuition assistance by a for-profit business or corporation.
  • Preference will be given to U.S. military students with unmet financial need, students who are without G.I. Bill benefits and/or students whose G.I. Bill benefits do not meet their necessary college expenses.
  • Students must be affiliated with the U.S. military (U.S. veteran, active duty, reservist or National Guard).
  • Students must be honorably discharged or a currently serving member in good standing with their units.
  • Preference will be given to U.S. military students with unmet financial need, students who are without G.I. Bill benefits and/or students whose G.I. Bill benefits do not meet their necessary college expenses.
  • Students must be enrolled in one of the following programs:

a. Cardiology Technician
b. Medical Billing and Coding Specialist
c. Nurse Aide
d. Pharmacy Technician
e. Phlebotomy Technician
f. Physician Office Assistant
g. Certified Recovery Specialist

  • Students must be affiliated with the U.S. military (U.S. veteran, active duty, reservist or National Guard).
  • Students must be honorably discharged or a currently serving member in good standing with their units.
  • Students must be enrolled in HACC’s Welding Technology, Wastewater Treatment Operator, Machinist/CNC Operator or Industrial Manufacturing Technician apprenticeship programs.
  • Preference will be given to U.S. military students with unmet financial need, students who are without G.I. Bill benefits and/or students whose G.I. Bill benefits do not meet their necessary college expenses.
  • Students must be affiliated with the U.S. military (U.S. veteran, active duty, reservist or National Guard).
  • Students must be honorably discharged or a currently serving member in good standing with their units.
  • Students must be enrolled in HACC’s Police Academy Training Program.
  • Preference will be given to U.S. military students with unmet financial need, students who are without G.I. Bill benefits and/or students whose G.I. Bill benefits do not meet their necessary college expenses.
  • Students must have completed a program at Tec Centro.
  • Students must be enrolled in a workforce program through HACC in Lancaster County. 
  • Preference is given to students with unmet financial need. 
  • Students must demonstrate unmet financial need as demonstrated by the FAFSA.
  • Students must be enrolled in HACC's Police Science, Police Administration, Emergency Medical Technician, Paramedic, Emergency Health Services or Fire Science Program.
     
  • Students must be a resident of Adams County.
  • Students must be enrolled in HACCs workforce development enology certificate program.
  • Students must submit a 250-500 word essay describing their financial need and how the scholarship will help them reach their career goals.
  • Student must be enrolled in the Workforce Medical Assisting Certificate Program
  • Students must participate on the mandatory Career Preparation Workshop before completing the program.
  • Students must attend the Gettysburg, Lancaster, Lebanon or York Campus.
  • Students must be enrolled in the Physician Office Assistance Program.
  • Students must have unmet need with a household income at or below $29,700 for a single person or $40,050 for a two-person household.

Failure to adhere to the essay requirements will result in an automatic decline of your scholarship application.

I will be required to refund the scholarship/award to the HACC Foundation. I understand this debt may be sent to a collection agency and thus may impact my credit rating.

I understand that changes in my enrollment status, campus attended, financial need, academic performance or other criteria can affect my eligibility to receive further disbursements. I accept that if I no longer meet the eligibility criteria, my scholarship may be removed from my student account, and may result in a balance due.

I give permission to HACC to use my comments solicited by HACC representatives in college advertisements and in publications, including, but not limited to, the catalog, student handbook, College webpage, alumni newsletter posters, class schedules, annual reports and social media. I also understand that the College may provide to and authorize the use of such photographs and comments to other organizations, including, but not limited to, The Harrisburg Patriot-News or other newspapers, The Pennsylvania Commission for Community Colleges, CASE, the Pennsylvania Department of Education and PHEAA. I authorize this permission by typing my name as my electronic signature.

Such contact includes, but is not limited to, seeking additional financial assistance from donors for personal, academic, professional or other needs. I understand that my violation of this agreement may result in my scholarship being revoked and removed from my student account, and that I would become personally and financially responsible for any balance incurred as a result.
