What Automotive State Certifications does HACC offer?
These programs serve the needs of persons already employed in the industry. The programs are operated in cooperation with the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation.

SAFETY INSPECTION MECHANIC CERTIFICATION PROGRAM
Certified by Pennsylvania Department of Transportation
Program Summary:

  • This 12-hour program leads to Safety Inspection Mechanic certification by the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation. It contains classroom instruction, special category instruction, written examination, tool clinic, and tactile examination for each special category.
  • Upon successful completion of your Tactile Examination, your records will be forwarded to the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation along with a recommendation for certification. This certification is issued by the PA Department of Transportation, NOT Harrisburg Area Community College. You will then be issued your Safety Inspection Identification Card. YOU CANNOT INSPECT VEHICLES WITHOUT THIS CARD

 

EMISSIONS INSPECTION CERTIFICATION PROGRAM
Certified by Pennsylvania Department of Transportation
Program Summary:

  • This 16.5-hour program leads to Emissions Inspector certification by the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation. It contains classroom instruction, which includes demonstrations on Dynamometer gas analyzing and OBDII equipment, written examination, and computer-based test (CBT). Your test(s)/CBT results will be forwarded to PARSONS, Inc. (contractor of Pennsylvania Department of Transportation, for grading). You will then be issued your Inspector Certification ID Card. YOU CANNOT PERFORM EMISSIONS INSPECTIONS WITHOUT THIS CARD.

    Inspector Certification is valid for two (2) years. You will then be required to take a Recertification course to maintain your certification.
     

PENNSYLVANIA EMISSIONS RECERTIFICATION
Certified by Pennsylvania Department of Transportation
Program Summary:

  • This 4-hour course will recertify Emissions Inspection Technicians, which is required every two (2) years to maintain your Emissions Inspection Certification.
     

HACC can offer automotive training, customized to meet YOUR needs. HACC is a GM Training Satellite for GM dealer technicians.
