HACC names dean for mathematics, science and allied health division

Christopher Fowler, Ph.D., of Carlisle has been appointed dean of the mathematics, science and allied health division at HACC, Central Pennsylvania's Community College.

Dr. Fowler oversees one of the largest academic divisions at HACC. He is responsible for division faculty, curriculum planning and development, instructional development and contributes to college governance.

Dr. Fowler joins HACC after completing a distinguished career of 26 years of experience in engineering, leadership, analysis and education in the United States Army. His experience includes 10 years on international projects with the Army Corps of Engineers, leading organizations in the U.S. Army, working as an operations research analyst for both the civilian and military sectors and more than 15 years teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels. He is a veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Dr. Fowler graduated from the United States Military Academy with a Bachelor of Science degree. He completed Master of Science degree in applied mathematics and operations research/statistics at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. He also has a Master of Science degree in industrial engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology. Dr. Fowler received his doctorate from the School of Industrial and Systems Engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology.

Dr. Fowler is a registered professional engineer and is a member of numerous professional organizations and societies. He is a member of the Carlisle Sunrise Rotary Club.

Dr. Fowler and his wife, Mary Beth, and their three children reside in Carlisle.
