Lancaster Campus of HACC offers assortment of noncredit courses

Looking for a way to express your creativity? The Lancaster Campus of HACC, Central Pennsylvania's Community College, has a multitude of classes designed to let your imagination run free. Choose from a range of topics including painting, metalwork, and even cooking.

Among the new Community Education courses is Fused Glass Celtic Ornament which will be offered on Monday, March 5 at 6-8pm. Cost is $25 with an additional fee for glass and firing time. Create ornamental, glittering green shamrocks, Celtic crosses, and knots for your windows. These decorations are sure to add appeal to any home.

Converting Memories will present a broad overview of various ways to transform objects, heirlooms, photographs, slides, VHS tapes and Super8mm movies to digital format to prevent further deterioration. Several different techniques and equipment will be discussed. The course will be offered on Thursdays at 6-9pm from March 8 through March 15 with a cost of $50.

Those who enjoy working with Precious Metal Clay (PMC) should consider taking PMC Beyond the Basics. Learn to paint organic shapes, make hollow forms, and set semi-precious stones or faceted cubic zirconia. You will also learn about patina and finishing techniques to make your jewelry sparkle. Students should have previous experience in using PMC before taking this class. The course will be offered on Mondays at 6-9pm from March 12 through April 2 for a cost of $98.

Fresh Meals from Yesterday will teach you how to plan and make multiple meals from one meal. Save time, energy, and effort by taking yesterday's leftovers and transforming them into today's special! The class will take place on Wednesday, March 14 from 6-9pm. Cost is $50.

Conversational Spanish I will be held on Mondays at 6:30-8:30pm from March 19 through May 7. Cost is $125. Whether you aim to enhance your employment opportunities or satisfy your personal growth, this beginner course is sure to lead you down that path.

Those with some experience in watercolor will not want to miss Watercolors: Beginner/Intermediate. Demonstrations on laying washes, use of color, texture, glazing, and painting various objects with respect to composition will be emphasized. One-on-one critiquing and instruction will be a large part of each class. The course will be offered on Mondays at 6-9pm from March 26 through April 30. Cost is $135.
