"Through My Eyes" Photography Exhibit at HACC-Gettysburg

May 1, 2007
Ron Harris has been taking photos since he was twelve, and he has continued capturing images on film for fifty-four years. His photography exhibit, "Through My Eyes," is featured at the Gettysburg Campus of HACC from May 1 through June 29.

"Photography is such a powerful media because it allows you to capture a 'moment of time,'" he says. "I find it fascinating to be able to capture and share that moment with others throughout time. Life around us is always in motion. Much is missed. The photo allows us to reflect and focus on that special moment we have experienced."

As a freelance photographer and videographer, Ron has photographed babies, animals, food, landscapes, parties, retirements, baptisms, bar mitzvahs and weddings. His "Through My Eyes" exhibit incorporates photographs of buildings and architecture, people, florals, and other themes that have caught his attention from 1954 to the present. Ron has also developed a separate collection of theater-related photographs in conjunction with his participation in community theater productions.

When not working on still photography, Ron has used his video graphic talents to film and direct two local documentaries which have aired on the Adelphia Cable Network: "The Valley of Carroll's Delight" and "The New Oxford Story." Ron, a retired Air Force Lieutenant Colonel, is the head of rh Productions which provides still photography and film service for commercials, training, theatre productions and personal services. He is also president of HAI, a computer consulting firm, and is a part-time computer instructor at Howard Community College and at HACC-Gettysburg Campus. Ron is also the mayor of Carroll Valley Borough, chairman of the Fairfield Regional Emergency Management Agency and president of the Adams County Boroughs Association.

Exhibit hours at HACC are Monday through Thursday 7:30 am to 8:00 pm and Fridays 8:00 am to 12 noon. The campus will also be open from noon until 5:00 pm on Friday, May 11 and from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm on Saturday, May 12. HACC will be closed for Memorial Day on Monday, May 28.

The HACC-Gettysburg Campus is located at the North Gettysburg Center on Old Harrisburg Road, near Weis Markets and Adams County National Bank. For information, call 717-337-3855.
