2010-11 exhibits and art shows at HACC

Oct. 4-
Nov. 4               Marilyn and Minni Jean – Art Space in the East Building on the Lancaster Campus of HACC, Central Pennsylvania’s Community College, 1641 Old Philadelphia Pike. The exhibit features mixed media by Marilyn Fox, the gallery director for Penn State Berks and Penn State Lehigh Valley. An artist reception is scheduled from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 6, in the Art Space. Hours are 9 a.m.-7 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Friday. Closed on college holidays. Nov. 8-
Dec. 9               Drawing Conclusions – Art Space in the East Building on the Lancaster Campus of HACC, Central Pennsylvania’s Community College, 1641 Old Philadelphia Pike. The exhibit features works on paper by Lancaster resident Claire Giblin. Giblin is also the art gallery curator for Franklin and Marshall College. An artist reception is scheduled from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 10, in the Art Space. Hours are 9 a.m.-7 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Friday. Closed on college holidays. Feb. 4, 2011     Mata Ortiz: Pottery in the Casas Grandes Tradition from the collection of photographer Carl Socolow of Camp Hill – in the Rose Lehrman Art Gallery on the Harrisburg Campus of HACC, Central Pennsylvania’s Community College, One HACC Drive. The tiny village of Mata Ortiz in Chihuahua, Mexico, is known worldwide for its exquisite pottery. The exhibit, sponsored by the HACC Alumni Association, features Artist in Residence, Jeraro Tena, Jan. 18-22. Tena is noted for his delicate, precise painting and superbly polished pieces. His lecture will be 5-6 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 20, 2011, in the gallery with a reception afterward. Gallery hours are 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Monday-Friday, 5-7 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday. The exhibit features sculptures and textiles by New York resident and Lancaster County native Frieman Stolzfus. An artist reception is scheduled from 5-7 p.m. Monday, Jan. 31, 2011, in the Art Space. April 8, 2011    Unnatural Disorder: Prints by Sue Coe – in the Rose Lehrman Art Gallery on the Harrisburg Campus of HACC, Central Pennsylvania’s Community College, One HACC Drive. The England-born artist now resides in upstate New York where she creates highly political works, often directed against capitalism and cruelty to animals. Coe presents a lecture in the gallery on Thursday, March 24, 2011, with a reception following. Time TBA. Gallery hours are 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Monday-Friday, 5-7 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday.
