HACC offers patient care assistant course this fall

Sept. 15, 2011
HARRISBURG – Nurse aides seeking a job in the acute care hospital setting can take their skills to the next level with HACC’s patient care assistant course this fall.
Having this additional certification provides opportunities beyond the skills acquired by successfully meeting the requirements to be a nurse aide.
HACC is offering two separate opportunities for the 48-hour patient care assistant course. Students can opt for the evening classes or a day-time class. Both classes will meet at HACC’s Harrisburg Campus with clinical held at Carlisle Regional Medical Center. The cost of this training is $298.
The evening class meets 5-9:30 p.m. Wednesday-Friday, Sept. 22-30 with the final class held 8 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 1. Clinicals begin Oct. 5 with a required total of 24 hours on a 5-10 p.m. schedule and possibly a Saturday shift.
The day class meets from 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Oct. 26-28. Clinicals begin Nov. 2 with a required total of 24 hours on a 7 a.m.-3:30 p.m. schedule and possibly a Saturday shift.
Students who enroll must be nurse aides who have passed the American Red Cross test and are currently in good standing on the Nurse Aide Registry.
