GETTYSBURG – Explore “The Joy of Color” with artist Julie Anne Morrette’s work featured in the gallery hallway from Jan. 11-March 31 at HACC-Gettysburg Campus.
The public is invited to join students, faculty and staff to meet the artist at a reception from 6-7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 8. Both events are free.
“My art is a subconscious invitation to the eye of the viewer,” said Morrette, who teaches art at South Western High School. “I implore you to view my work as a visual entrance into a world of your own, beyond my eye.”
“My use of color speaks volumes in the art I create. It is a powerful and volatile combination for expression whether realistic or representational,” said Morrette, a professional art educator since 1997. “My work thrives on an emotional inner strength to create the world as I see or to play with it to represent how I understand.”
She added, “I am intrigued with artists from the Renaissance period through contemporary art. Through my years of learning and teaching art, I have grown to fully appreciate every artist. They have inspired the use of my ability to create fine art that explores the relationship of subject, content and composition.”
She is a member of the Pennsylvania Art Education Association and National Art Education Association. A professional art educator since 1997, Morrette has a bachelor’s degree in art education from Mansfield University.
Exhibit hours are during campus hours: 7:30 a.m.-9:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 7:30 a.m.-5 p.m. Friday and 7:30 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday.
