HACC Foundation Allocates More Than $1 Million for HACC Programs, Projects

HARRISBURG, Pa. – The HACC Foundation, a nonprofit organization that works to raise private contributions in support of HACC, Central Pennsylvania’s Community College, has approved $1,067,664 in funding for various projects. This funding is made possible through generous contributions from individual and organizational donors.
 
“There is no greater investment than in people,” said Linnie S. Carter, Ph.D., APR, vice president of college advancement at HACC and executive director of the HACC Foundation. “We are grateful to our donors who selflessly give to provide opportunities for our students to grow and thrive in a competitive marketplace. A gift to the HACC Foundation is truly an investment in the future of our students.”
 
The funding from the HACC Foundation will be used to:
 
Purpose of HACC Foundation Funding Benefit to Students and the College Fund Amount
  1. Cardiac Sonography CX 50 machine
The purchase of this up-to-date equipment for teaching and student learning will improve student performance with hands-on skills in lab and at clinical sites and better prepare our students in serving our community of patients. $ 68,500
  1. KoKo Dosimeter
The purchase of two dosimeter devices will give respiratory students access to
this type of nebulization system, which is used in many hospitals for the delivery of specialized medication used to diagnose asthma.

  1. Paramedic LifePak 15 Foundation Purchase
The funds will be used to purchase state-of-the-art cardiac monitoring technology for HACC’s paramedic program. It will be used by paramedic students prior to entering hospital and advanced life support (ALS) ambulance clinical rotations as well as preparing them for the National Registry exam. $ 44,000
  1. HACC Foundation Sponsorship, Wells Foundation Sponsorship, HACC Alumni Association Sponsorship
The funds will provide financial support to the Live at Rose Lehrman Artist Series to meet its ongoing mission to present live touring professional dance, theatre and music events. $ 25,000
  1. Enhanced Entrances Project
The funds will be used to visually enhance and upgrade the main entrances to HACC’s Harrisburg Campus and improve the first impressions visitors form when coming to campus to register. $ 29,809.45
  1. RecTrac Software for J.W. Evans Physical Education Center
This equipment will be used to track usage of the facility, improve operations and increase staff efficiency. $ 15,222
  1. Mechatronics Technician Training Program
The funds awarded will be used to assist  students by providing scholarships to start up this program at the York Campus in conjunction with HACC’s Workforce Development Department. $ 25,000
  1. Mobile Device Support Project
The funds will be used by HACC’s Office of Information Services and Technology to purchase iPads, Android tablets and MacBooks to reduce the amount of time needed by Help Desk technicians to provide support for employees and students. $ 13,000
  1. Lancaster Campus Welcome Center Renovations
The funds will be used to create a welcoming lobby area and entrance for current and potential students, redesign department offices to create a cohesive flow for students to easily transition to and from  the services they need and create an updated office space that fully utilizes available space. $470,000
  1. Seeds of Change Mini-Grant Program
The funds will be used to provide mini-grants for innovative ideas that enhance HACC’s programs, courses or operations. $ 20,000
  1. PSC Debt Service
These funds will subsidize the Public Safety Center's bond. $350,000
  1. Enhanced Availability of Virtualization Technology
The funds will be used to purchase computer server hardware suitable for virtualization, a technology that allows running multiple virtual machines on a single piece of hardware. The addition of this equipment will introduce students to some of the advanced capabilities and configurations in computer networking technology. $    2,728.83
  1. Professional Development Day For Nursing Students
The funds will be used for a Professional Development Day that provides students with an opportunity to reflect on professional life as
a nurse, improve selected skills and knowledge and give consideration to the importance of stress management
and coping with the high stress of the program.

The HACC Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that was established in 1985 to raise private and corporate revenues in support of HACC, Central Pennsylvania's Community College. In fiscal year 2013-14 alone, the HACC Foundation contributed close to $2.2 million to the College in scholarships, special programs and facilities and provided financial assistance to 1,345 students.

Contributions to the HACC Foundation are accepted in the form of unrestricted gifts to augment endowed funds, contributions to existing or new scholarship programs or award funds, support for academic and workforce programs, sponsorship of special events and cultural programs and contributions made in honor or in memory of individuals.
