Rock Out With ‘Spring Awakening’ at HACC
HARRISBURG, Pa. – HACC Theatre presents “Spring Awakening,” the final production in its 2018-19 Season of Assimilation, April 11-14, 2019.
“Spring Awakening” is the winner of eight Tony Awards, including best musical, and explores the journey from adolescence into adulthood. Its fusion of morality, sexuality and rock ’n’ roll is exhilarating audiences across the nation.
Public performances will take place April 12 and 13 at 7:30 p.m. and April 14 at 2 p.m. Tickets are $15 for general admission and $10 for students, HACC employees, senior citizens and active military and veterans.
All Central Pennsylvania students are invited to a “Student Night” performance on April 11 at 7:30 p.m. Student seating will be at a discounted rate of $5 with valid student identification. General admission tickets will also be available for this performance.
Please note this play contains adult language and situations and is recommended for ages 17 and older.
“Spring Awakening” book and lyrics are by Steven Sater with music by Duncan Sheik. The production is based on the play by Frank Wedekind and is presented through special arrangement with Music Theatre International (MTI).

Artist Celebrates Light during Darkest Time of Year at HACC’s Lancaster Campus LANCASTER, Pa. – “Luminaria” by Lindsey Pei, a collection of work celebrating the beauty of light during the darkest time of the year, opens April 8, 2019, in the Art Space in the East Building at HACC’s Lancaster Campus.
The exhibit runs through May 3.
A reception for the artist will be held from 4:30 – 6 p.m. on April 8. During the reception, Pei will present a slideshow of the Luminaria event that includes pieces installed on the original site.
The presentation will take place from 5 – 5:30 p.m. in East Building Room 203.
Pei, a Lancaster County artist and watchmaker, is the founder of Ornament Incarnate. She invents, designs and fabricates miniature mechanical automata. In contrast to the tiny scale of her work in metal, Pei also builds large scale illuminated, often kinetic, magical creatures.
The Art Space is open Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m.-7 p.m. and Friday from 9 a.m.-5 p.m.

Artwork by HACC Students Featured in Honors Exhibits HARRISBURG, Pa. – Art students at HACC, Central Pennsylvania’s Community College, will display their best works in two shows at the Rose Lehrman Art Gallery on HACC’s Harrisburg Campus in April and May 2019.
The first show from April 1-18 will feature student works of photography, computer art, digital photo imaging and three-dimensional and two-dimensional design. The show will conclude with a reception for the artists on April 4 from 5:30-7 p.m.
From April 24-May 9, the gallery will feature graphic design, drawing, painting, glass, ceramics and jewelry works.
A reception for the artists will be held on May 2 from 5:30-7 p.m.
Students submit hundreds of works for consideration. Art faculty jury the submissions and select the best works in each category. Awards will be presented at 6 p.m. during both receptions.
All gallery events are free and open to the public. Gallery hours are 11 a.m.-3 p.m., Monday through Friday, and 5-7 p.m. on Tuesdays or Thursdays or by appointment.
