"Intimacies," a mixed media and fiber exhibit that examines personal faith and communication, will run Jan. 9-30 in the Rose Lehrman Art Gallery at the Harrisburg Campus of HACC, Central Pennsylvania's Community College.

The artist, Bloomsburg University Assistant Art Professor Meredith Grimsley, uses words and mixed media, sometimes in the form of performance and wearable art, to get across her ideas. She says she strives "to understand and expose the need for, purpose of and cycle of repetition in human traditions, speech and relationships" in her work.

A public reception for the artist will be held in the gallery from 6-7:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 17.

Grimsley teaches Fabric Design and Fiber Art, which includes art quilts, papermaking, basket construction and soft sculpture She has an MFA with Distinction from The University of Georgia and has studied in Cortona, Italy, and Kyoto, Japan. Grimsley has exhibited throughout the United States, and has presented professional workshops at The Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts in Gatlinburg, Tenn.

All gallery programs are free and open to the public. Rose Lehrman Art Gallery hours are 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Monday-Friday and 5-7 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday. The Rose Lehrman Art Gallery exhibits are made possible, in part, through Pennsylvania Partners in the Arts (PPA), a local decision-making program of the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts (PCA). The PCA is a state agency in the Governor's office, created by the Legislature in 1966 to encourage and promote the arts. Funding comes from the citizens of Pennsylvania through an annual state appropriation by the Legislature and from a federal grant from the National Endowment for the Arts. PPA is administered locally by Jump Street.
