Aspiring theater arts students will get a taste of the magic of the stage at the annual Theatre Day on Saturday, Sept. 29, co-sponsored by Theatre Harrisburg and the Theatre for Young People at HACC, Central Pennsylvania's Community College.

Students will be divided into age-based groups and each student will rotate through the different departments offered during this one-day event from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Theatre Harrisburg's Production Center on Hurlock and Sixth Street, Harrisburg.

The experience is designed to give students between 7-18 years old an opportunity to explore the many facets of the world of theater, including acting and improvisation, theater makeup, musical theater and theater design.

The not-so-hidden beauty of Theatre Day classes is the size of each group. The students are divided into four groups with each group having a maximum of 10 students to keep student-teacher ratio low. Last year, the maximum permitted to participate was 42 students.

The event is $40 per student. Students are advised to bring their own lunch.

HACC's Theatre for Young People was created under the umbrella of the college's Theatre Department to provide an affordable venue for area youth to explore the world of theater arts.
