Contrasts abound in this lively and eclectic exhibition. Formal concerns in the elegant ceramic orbs by Jim Lard are juxtaposed next to expressively animated ceramic vessels by Robert Troxell. Issue driven work, such as the mixed media work of Shawn Williams, explores the working class while the subtle, enigmatic portraits by Ellen Branscomb are stimulated by subject.
Unique vision stands out in the work of internationally acclaimed photographer Ron Talbott; the digital images of Marjaneh Talebi are transparent and evocative and Garrick Dorsett offers quirky photos with hand drawn elements. The exhibit also features the experimental drawings of Kim Banister and the collage works of Monica Smith-Talbott.
An evening reception in the gallery is scheduled from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 5. Visitors are welcome during special operating hours from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 9, during The Art Association of Harrisburg's Gallery Walk. All exhibits are free and open to the public.

The Rose Lehrman Art Gallery exhibits are made possible, in part, through Pennsylvania Partners in the Arts (PPA), a local decision-making program of the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts (PCA). The PCA is a state agency in the Governor's office, created by the Legislature in 1966 to encourage and promote the arts. Funding comes from the citizens of Pennsylvania through an annual state appropriation by the Legislature and from a federal grant from the National Endowment for the Arts. PPA is administered locally by Jump Street.
