Non-credit to Credit Pathways

HACC supports ongoing education. We have several ways to earn college credits for non-credit courses/programs. Learn more about these non-credit to credit pathways.

 

How do I earn these credits?

You will only earn credit for your certifications or HACC non-credit courses if the credits apply to your current program of study.

The number of credits/courses awarded is subject to change.

 

Can I transfer these credits?

You may not be able to transfer articulated credits from HACC to other post-secondary institutions.

 

How many credits can I earn for computer certifications?

Credit for computer certifications may not exceed 16 credits.

Computer Science and Information Technology

  • A+ (CompTIA IT Technician)

  • MCSE (Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer)

  • MOS (Certifications in Word, Excel and Access)
  • MOS Powerpoint

Public Safety and Service 

  • Active EMT certifications
  • Active Paramedic certifications
  • HACC Fire Academy
  • Educational Methodology course and state certification as Fire Instructor I
  • HACC, Fire Officer I program
  • HACC, ACT 120 training (Certificate of Completion)
  • PA State Police Academy (Certificate of Completion)
  • Corrections Officer Trainee Program
  • Cardiology Technician
    CCT certification and one year of work experience may allow articulation of up to ten credits. You can apply these credits to either of HACC's cardiovascular technology (CVT) programs: Invasive Cardiovascular Technology and Cardiac Sonography. Courses: CVT 101, CVT 102, CVT 103, and AH 140.   • Dental Assisting
    Certified Dental Assistant (CDA) certification and employment in the dental field may allow articulation of 30 credits. These credits can be applied towards an Associate Degree in Health Science.   • Medical Assisting
    Certified Medical Assistant (CMA/AAMA - Certifying Board of the American Association of Medical Assistants) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA - American Medical Technologists) certification and employment as a medical assistant may allow articulation of 30 credits.   • Nursing
    RN certification and employment in the nursing field may allow articulation of 30 credits. You can apply these credits towards an Associate Degree in Health Science. For more information, please contact an Admissions Counselor, by phone at 800-ABC-HACC, or by email at start@hacc.edu.
  • Practical Nursing
    LPN licensure and employment in the nursing field may allow articulation of 30 credits. You can apply these credits towards an Associate Degree in Health Science. For more information, please contact an Admissions Counselor, by phone at 800-ABC-HACC, or by email at start@hacc.edu.
  • Surgical Technologist
    Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) certification and employment as a surgical technologist may allow articulation of 30 credits.   • Emergency Medical Technician
    Completion of this certificate program, current PA EMT Certification and approximately 100 documented emergency calls may allow articulation of four credits. These credits count for EMS 131 and EMS 132. You can put these credits towards the Paramedic Associate Degree or Certificate.   • Gerontology
    Within two years of successful completion of noncredit GERT 100, GERT 101, GERT 102 or GERT 103, you may be able to earn one credit for each course taken. You can apply these credits towards the Gerontology Diploma. You must complete all course requirements including assignments and tests. For more information, contact Kathy L.   • Massage Therapy
    National certification and employment in the massage therapy field may allow articulation of 30 credits. You can apply these credits towards an Associate Degree in Health Science.   • Paramedic
    EMT-P certification and employment as a paramedic may allow articulation of 30 credits. You can apply these towards an Associate Degree in Health Science.
