Open forums set, website launched

HARRISBURG – A series of open forums will be held in September to gather input from the college community in the search for a new president at HACC, Central Pennsylvania’s Community College.
The forums will be used to develop a presidential profile for potential candidates, who have until Oct. 25 to apply for the top leadership position at Pennsylvania’s largest and oldest community college, said Thomas B. Richey, chairman of the search committee and a member of the HACC board of trustees.
Richey also announced the members of the search committee. They include, in addition to Richey, Lise-Pauline M. Barnett and John R. Heapes, faculty; Teresa A. Benneian, adjunct faculty; David S. Bishop Jr. and Linda A. Mussoline, classified staff; Kathy Kramer. Ed.D., and Lisa A. Sanford, administration; Capri L. DuBois and Bryell A. StClair, Student Government Association; Greg King, HACC Foundation; William H. Sayre, delegate body; and HACC trustees Daniel P. Delaney, Loren H. Kroh, Charles R. Peguese, Timothy L. Sandoe and Toni H. Sharp. An alumnus representative also will be named.
The open forums will be held at each of the college’s five campuses, hosted by the campus vice president and facilitated by a representative of the Association of Community College Trustees (ACCT), the organization selected to aid in the national search.
All campus forums will be broadcast via compressed video to each of the other campuses. The schedule:

Wednesday, Sept. 15 – 10 a.m.-11 a.m., HACC-York Campus, Cytec Room YC106Q
Wednesday, Sept. 15 – 2-3 p.m., HACC-Gettysburg Campus, Room 109
Thursday, Sept. 16 – 10-11 a.m., HACC-Lancaster Campus, East Room 328
Thursday, Sept. 16 – 2-3 p.m., HACC-Lebanon Campus, Room 308
HACC has added a new link, “Presidential Search,” to its homepage that allows interested people to keep tabs on the search for a new president. Go to www.hacc.edu and click on “Presidential Search” for links to position profile, applications procedures, search timeline, members of the search committee and progress reports. In addition, the site contains information about HACC and the region.
The site will be updated as additional information becomes available.
Edna V. Baehre, Ph.D., resigned July 31 after 13 years as HACC’s president to become president at Napa Valley College in California. Ronald R. Young, HACC provost and vice president of academic affairs and enrollment management, is interim president.
