Fund raiser benefits Phi Theta Kappa honor society
March 4, 2011
GETTYSBURG – A sale of gently used prom dresses and gowns will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, March 19, in the Robert C. Hoffman Community Room at HACC-Gettysburg Campus.
The public is invited to shop at the second annual prom gown sale, which is sponsored by the campus chapter of Phi Theta Kappa, an international honor society.
Not only will the sale help prom-goers save money on the cost of prom attire, proceeds will support a local team participating in the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life at Oakside Community Park in Biglerville on May 20 and 21.
Last year, chapter members raised $900 for Relay for Life. This year’s goal is $1,500.
Gowns will be priced at $20 or less, and accessories will be available for less than $10. Dressing rooms will be available. Door prizes will be awarded, and hair stylists, make-up consultants, a seamstress, and other vendors will be available for consultations.
For more information or to donate gently used gowns or bridesmaid or cocktail dresses, contact Wendy Brubaker, faculty co-adviser of Phi Theta Kappa, at wabrubak@hacc.edu.
