HARRISBURG – In this solo exhibition, HACC photography instructor Jeff Hubert displays images from four series of his photographic body of work, “Multiple Personalities” at the Rose Lehrman Art Gallery on the Harrisburg Campus of HACC, Central Pennsylvania’s Community College.
The series includes the “Wallpaper Series,” “Pinhole Nudes,” “Cuba Portraits” and the “Collector Series.” The exhibit will be displayed from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Monday-Thursday, June 1-30. A reception for the artist will be from 5-6:30 p.m. Friday, June 3.
The Wallpaper Series, taken in an abandoned house, depicts the erosion and decay of generations of wallpaper, traces left behind by the house’s inhabitants. Pinhole Nudes illustrate surreal qualities of the human form through a lens-less camera with infinite depth of field. The Cuba Portraits give insight about the people of Cuba. The Collector Series contrasts the human form against unique environments.
"Three Musicians" by Jeff HubertThe images were originally made on film and have been scanned and digitally reproduced on archival rag paper. The photos represent a glimpse of multiple facets of one photographer's vision.
Hubert received a master’s degree in fine arts in photography from the University of Delaware. He has a bachelor’s degree in criminology and psychology from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. Hubert will retire in June from the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency where he has worked since 1987. He has taught photography at HACC since 1996.
"Bicycle Repair" by Jeff HubertHubert has shown at the Doshi Gallery in Harrisburg, and at the Art Association of Harrisburg. He has been a finalist in the Pennsylvania Art of the State competition on a number of occasions and has had work in many other local exhibits. Articles he has published include: “Myths and Misconceptions” and “Critiquing—One Step at a Time” which both appeared in the “Ilford Photo Instructor,” distributed by Ilford Photo, a company in England with a regional office in Rehoboth Beach, Del., that manufactures photography products and specializes in black and white photography.
His self-made book titled “Subconscious Perceptions“ is in HACC’s McCormick Library under the special collections section.
