Upcoming Exhibit 'Interior Gardens' at HACC's Lancaster Campus Exhibit opens Aug. 19, reception Sept. 18

LANCASTER, Pa. –Artist Catherine Drabkin will exhibit her work, “Interior Gardens,” from Monday, Aug. 19 – Thursday, Sept. 19, 2013, at the Art Space in the East Building of HACC’s Lancaster Campus.

A reception where the community can meet the artist will be held Wednesday, Sept. 18 from 5-7 p.m. Both the art exhibit and reception are free and open to the public.

“My work documents the human scale of the places where I live and travel,” said Drabkin in describing her work. “It continues an investigation, through painting, of the relationship between sky and land, between interiors and nature. I am motivated by light on water, intimate spaces, thresholds, atmosphere and most recently, the visual richness of neighborhood life. The shape of a house reflected in water, a glass bottle left on a kitchen shelf or the front stoop of a row house can become memorable through a luminous quality, or an echo of a human presence.”

Based in Wilmington, Del., Drabkin received her bachelor’s degree in fine art from the Maryland Institute/College of Art and her master’s degree in fine art from Queens College, City University of New York (CUNY). She has exhibited both nationally and internationally and her paintings are included in numerous public and private collections.

Hours for the Art Space are 9 a.m.–7 p.m. Monday-Thursday and 9 a.m.–5 p.m. on Friday. For more information, contact Ilene Rosenberg at 717-293-5000, ext. 71148 or email irrosenb@hacc.edu.
