HARRISBURG, Pennsylvania – The HACC Foundation, a nonprofit organization that works to raise private contributions in support of HACC, has approved more than $122,000 in funding for projects critical to the mission of the College. This funding is made possible through generous contributions from individual and organizational donors.
 
Linnie S. Carter, Ph.D., APR, vice president of college advancement at HACC and executive director of the HACC Foundation, said,  “I have worked at four community colleges, and our donors at HACC are the most generous. Our donors understand that an investment in HACC students is an investment in the economic and cultural vitality of our community. We could never thank our donors enough for their generous contributions throughout the last 30 years.”
 
The funding from the HACC Foundation will be used for the following purposes:
 
Purpose of HACC Foundation Funding Benefit to Students and the College Fund Amount
  1. Portable high-fidelity endovascular simulator for the Invasive Cardiovascular Technology (CVT) program at the Lancaster Campus
The equipment will provide simulated scenarios and procedures to give students hands-on experience and to better prepare them for the clinical rotation and employment. $54,300.00
  1. Standard contrast delivery injector system for the Invasive Cardiovascular Technology (CVT) program at the Lancaster Campus
The equipment will provide instruction and necessary hands-on skills to CVT students. Use of this equipment will better prepare students for the clinical rotation and employment. $26,300.00
  1. Radiologic imaging equipment, a wheelchair and a stretcher for the Radiologic Technology program at the Harrisburg Campus
The equipment will allow students to process X-ray images to evaluate and learn about anatomy and the influences of radiation in a controlled setting. The wheelchair and stretcher will allow students to learn the proper transfer of patients to the X-ray table. $22,740.97
  1. Heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) system and carpeting in the Stabler Annex at the Harrisburg Campus
The HVAC replacement will provide a comfortable environment and address sustainability by installing energy efficient equipment. The carpet replacement will provide a professional, clean and safe location for employees and students. $12,390.00
  1. High-definition touch creative pen display and accessories for HACC’s Web Development and Design program at the Midtown Trades and Technology Center
The equipment will be used by the instructor to draw instructional charts and diagrams and to demonstrate brushing and painting techniques, drawing and illustration techniques and creating and manipulating of 3D animation elements. It also will be available during lab times for students to create assignments using these techniques. $3,168.94
  1. Three replacement anatomic lung models for the Respiratory Therapist program at the Harrisburg Campus
The replacement lung models will allow respiratory therapist students learn how to identify all segments of each lung in order to meet the objectives of their program. $2,800.00
  1. Neonatal resuscitator for the Respiratory Therapist program at the Harrisburg Campus
Adding this equipment to the Respiratory Therapy program will allow students to practice and become proficient in the emergency manual resuscitation of infants using different devices. $979.00
