Acclaimed Artist Luba Lukova to Lecture at HACC
HARRISBURG, Pa. – HACC, Central Pennsylvania’s Community College, welcomes internationally renowned artist and designer Luba Lukova to its Harrisburg Campus March 22, 2018.

Lukova will deliver a lecture on her work at 6 p.m. in Whitaker Hall, Room 214. The event is free and open to the public.

Lukova is regarded as one of the most original image makers today. Her body of work – characterized by bold graphic elements and fine details – reflects essential themes of humanity and visualizes social commentary.

Throughout her career, Lukova has used her art as a means to reflect on complex social issues. In 2008, she released her “Social Justice” portfolio, a series of 12 images that address themes including peace, censorship, immigration, ecology, hunger and corruption. The collection was included in the art exhibition at the first inauguration of President Barack Obama in Washington, D.C., and has exhibited widely in the U.S., France, Turkey, Greece, Israel and Mexico.

The artist’s work is included in permanent collections at the Museum of Modern Art in New York; the Denver Art Museum, Denver, Colorado; Bibliothèque nationale de France, Paris; Hong Kong Heritage Museum; and the Library of Congress, Washington, D.C.

This lecture is supported through a grant from the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts.

HACC Artist Lecture Series Features Husband and Wife
LEBANON, Pa. – Local artists Sara and Robert Cornelius will share how they built artistic careers during the next HACC Artist Series on March 29, 2018, at HACC’s Lebanon Campus.

“Thriving on Creativity: How an Imaginative Couple Built Artistic Careers” is a free public lecture and Photoshop demonstration scheduled 6:30-8 p.m. in Room 105. A question-and-answer period is included.

Sara Cornelius is an illustrator, designer and food blog/cookbook junkie, and Robert Cornelius is a professional photographer who says he is “nothing without my magical Photoshopping powers.”

Sara Cornelius started her food blog, “Cake Over Steak,” as a way to combine her skills in illustration, graphic design and photography with her passion for home cooking and connecting with people online. The blog features original recipes, cookbook reviews, pizza crawls and more.

A graduate of Moore College of Art and Design, Philadelphia, she is a graphic artist for Gingrich Memorials in Middletown, where she creates custom hand etchings for gravestones. When she’s not at her day job working and listening to podcasts, she is usually reading cookbooks, testing recipes and working on her blog illustrations. She occasionally takes on freelance projects and previously was a graphic designer at the Lebanon Daily News.

Robert Cornelius has been shooting photographs professionally since 2008 and mastering his Photoshop skills since 2003. After attending Full Sail University to study filmmaking, he discovered his true love for Photoshop and heavily-edited composite photography. Employing his knowledge of storytelling, cinematic lighting and digital effects, he specializes in portraying the sagas of different characters that he dreams up as if he is directing an entire movie within each work of art.

He is a full-time professional photographer and retoucher at Simone Associates, a commercial studio based in Lebanon. Robert Cornelius is a two-time winner of the National Association of Photoshop Professionals’ Photoshop Guru Award, including Best in Show; was named the 2014 Raw: Philadelphia Photographer of the Year; has been featured by Adobe and countless other websites and magazines; taught classes for 500px.com; and written articles for Phlearn.com.
